Earn Respect, Manage Negative Comments

It’s been a year, hasn’t it?

I hope this is one of several heartfelt notes of “Thanks” in your feed this week. In the U.S. we are celebrating Thanksgiving. My American friends and colleagues might not know that the why, when, and how we celebrate Thanksgiving has evolved over the years. It’s been historically inconsistent, a source of debate, and defined in various ways over time (a mini lesson below).

Isn’t that how it sometimes goes with the concept of “Thanks” for each of us? We might say it quickly…more out of habit than with meaning. We might forget to say it and need to be reminded (like by our parents when we were younger.) We might think it, when in deep thought, and not share it aloud to those deserving of it. We might bury it, when troubled or facing incredible challenges. We might pray it when relieved or feeling Blessed.

I am feeling Blessed. Consider this a challenge...send 3 messages of 'thanks' to those who have mattered to you.

If you need a bit of inspiration...take a few minutes to reflect with Gratitude. This beautiful work by Louie Schwartzberg might help… click to launch with volume (6 min).
